#TOMtech & Digital Catapult Centre Brighton – Hacking Live Performance
How can technology change how we experience live events?
We will be looking to explore this question with technologists, cutting-edge digital companies and creatives at this unique hackathon (24 hours of intense innovation to develop new ideas!).
We are interested in exploring ideas that provide new ways for audiences to interact with performance. We will provide you will access to experts and a specific live performance to hack (Cat & Mouse), which incorporates live music, performance and projected animation.
Attendees will get a unique chance to explore the opportunities of applying technology to live performance, to collaborate with other experts – as well as lots of serious fun!
The best idea will receive funding from #TOMtech, a place as resident in The Digital Catapult Centre Residency Programme to develop the idea further and will hopefully feature in future tours of the production.
We are open to individuals and companies – you might have an existing idea that you would like to develop further or want to collaborate with others to make something completely new.
We also want to explore ideas around a range of technologies – for example:
How could audiences interact within virtual/ augmented reality? How could audiences experience the performance before or after the event on their smartphones? How could we blend experiences from gaming with live performance? How could the audience influence and be immersed in the outcome of the story unfolding in front of them?
